The Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon is recognised as Australia’s premier Half Marathon, 2022 marks the 29th running of the event. The race commences at 6:15 am at Macquarie Street and finishes at 11:00 am on Park Street at Hyde Park North. The event raises money for a variety of charities.
Art Gallery Road and Mrs Macquarie’s Road will be closed from 4:30 am until 12:00 pm on Sunday 15 May 2022.
- Art Gallery Road and Mrs Macquaries Road will be closed from 4.30 am to 12.00 pm. No parking will be permitted during these times and access is restricted to authorised event staff and stakeholders with valid ID/passes up to 5.30 am. No vehicle access in or out of Art Gallery Road will be permitted after 5.30 am.
- Hospital Road will be altered to a two-way road from 4.30 am – 11.30 am allowing access from the northern end for hospital staff. A Traffic Controller will be positioned at Art Gallery/ Hospital from 4:30 am until the reopening. Entry via the northern end of Hospital Road is controlled by both Police and Traffic Controllers.

Parking restrictions / parking availability:
Public parking on Art Gallery Road and Mrs Macquarie’s Road will be available from 12.00 pm on event day.
Parking is available in Domain Carpark which will be open for patrons on the event day from 4.00 am.
This is a community sporting event which creates only minimal noise around the course. A small PA system with low level entertainment will be used to cheer the runners as they pass. Sound check from 6.30 am and event sound from 7.00 am to 11.00am.
