National Herbarium of NSW closure information (2018-2022)

The National Herbarium of NSW will close to the public from 14 December 2018 until we relocate it to the new Centre of Innovation for Plant Sciences at the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan. We anticipate this will open to the public in 2022.

From January 2019 we will not be processing outgoing loans and kindly ask that all requests not be made until 2022.

All Herbarium specimens on loan to researchers at the National Herbarium of NSW are to be returned to their home institutions by June 2019.

The Botanic Information Services desk (BIS) located in the Robert Brown Building will be unavailable for public walk ins. However, will continue to offer botanical services to the community though mail, email and telephone, as per normal operations.

The Red Box Gallery will close to the public from Friday 21 December 2018.

The Daniel Solander Library collection will operate as normal until the Collections team need to begin packing to relocate while the Robert Brown Building is refurbished in 2021.

We thank you for your patience and understanding while we undertake this incredible once in a lifetime opportunity for this project and the collection.
