The 5th annual Light the City is a free family event to either walk or cycle around an illuminated 2.5-kilometre circuit with light installations, food and non-alcoholic beverages, entertainment activations and valet bike parking. The event will take place at Mrs Macquarie’s Point from 6.00 pm to 11.00 pm on Saturday 27 October 2018.
The Garden and Domain will be open for all visitors and spectators on event day as per normal operating hours. However, some necessary changes will be in place such as road closures and parking for safety reasons.

Mrs Macquaries Road will be closed from 1.00 pm to 5.00 am.
Vehicles parked on Mrs Macquaries Road before the road closure must exit by 5.00 pm or will be infringed. Any special access requirements during this time must be pre-arranged.
No vehicles will be allowed access in or out of Mrs Macquaries Road between 5.00 pm to 5.00 am.
Buses will be allowed to turn in front of the Art Gallery of NSW northern parking area during these road closure periods from 1.00 pm. These parking spaces in front of the Art Gallery of NSW will be blocked off the night prior to facilitate the bus turnaround.
Drop off zone
A drop off zone will be available for public in front of the Art Gallery of NSW as well as the first six spaces of Hospital Road for a concurrent event taking place in the Domain.
Parking restrictions and availability
Public parking on Mrs Macquaries Road will not be available during road closure periods between 1.00 pm and 5.00 am on event day.
Parking is available in Domain Carpark which will be open for patrons on the event day as per normal operating hours www.domaincarpark.com.au.
Mobility Pass Holder access
No access or mobility parking during road closure periods between 1.00 pm and 5.00 am on event day. During these closure periods, parking is available in front of the Art Gallery of NSW south section parking area and in Domain Carpark during normal operations times on event day.
Gates will be open as per normal operating hours.
Pedestrian access to the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney will be maintained at all times. On the event day, there will be some necessary traffic and access restrictions in place for safety reasons.
