The Sydney Running Festival is the highest profile legacy event following the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
It incorporates four separate events: The Marathon, Half Marathon, Bridge Run and Family Fun Run.
The running route includes Art Gallery and Mrs Macquaries Road. Runners will finish at either the Opera House Forecourt or the Conservatorium on Macquarie St and make their way to baggage collection at the Parade Grounds within the Botanic Garden, and the Recovery Village in the Tarpeian area of the Domain, at Macquarie Street.
This year the event will be held on Sunday 15 September 2019.
As the Marathon comes through the Domain there will be some operational changes in place across the Domain. These are detailed below road closures will also be in place in the wider CBD area.
Art Gallery Road, Hospital Road and Mrs Macquarie’s Road will be closed on Sunday 16 September 2018 from 4.00 am – 11.00 pm.
Hospital Road access:
Access via St Marys Road into Hospital Road is permitted until 6.00 am
After 6.00 am Hospital Road will be accessible from Shakespeare place (via Cahill Expressway from the east) and will operate as a two-way until 11.00 pm.
All Hospital Staff and other stakeholders requiring vehicle access to buildings on Hospital Road should bring company photo ID
