Pollination exhibition school excursions and tours

For added value to your day out in The Garden, book a half hour guided tour of The Calyx in conjunction with a school excursion or visit on a self-guided tour!

In a visit to our horticultural exhibition centre The Calyx you’ll learn about the current theme Pollination and explore this amazing floral display. You’ll see models of blue banded bees made from plants, stunning arrangements of flowers in all shapes and colours and the largest continuous indoor green wall in the southern hemisphere!

See here for information on the current exhibition.

Bookings essential for all school groups: guided and self-guided options are available.

There are three options to visit The Calyx with your class:

Option 1 – Choose a school excursion that already includes a tour and activities in The Calyx (Primary only)

Visit here and look for a lesson with The Calyx logo in the corner. This is a special opportunity to use the classroom space within the building and the most cost-effective way to visit The Calyx with a Gardens educator.

Cost: Included in excursion booking (Primary only)

Bookings essential: Choose a primary school lesson with The Calyx logo in the corner here.

Option 2 - Add a 30 minute guided tour to your existing school excursion (Primary only)

Be guided through the stunning space by a Garden educator who will provide interpretation to you about the amazing building and unique pollination stories. You will then be given time to explore the exhibition at your own pace and enjoy the many photo opportunities this beautiful space provides. This add-on is approximately 30 minutes of time to walk to and explore the exhibition. If you are also booking a school excursion with us, please allow longer for lunch between your booked excursion program and this add-on.

Cost: $90 per class

Bookings essential: Incudes an introduction and interpretation by a Botanic Gardens Educator (Primary only)

Option 3 - Self-guided: Walk through the exhibition with your students, pointing out fun facts as provided on a self-guided information sheet (Primary or Secondary)

Cost: Free. Donation requested upon entry.

Bookings essential: Fact sheet provided on booking.
