Jude Wright

Leader Collections Curation at the National Herbarium of New South Wales

Job-sharing with Peta Hinton since 2008, I work 2-3 days per week with the Specimen Mounting Program supervising 2 teams of skilled and dedicated volunteers. Working with the volunteers is highly social and much of my day involves preparing specimens for mounting, while ensuring we maintain safe handling and high standards of curatorial procedure. I particularly enjoy working with the volunteers and sharing in their passion for the specimens and the process. In preparation for mounting historic specimens, I also enjoy transferring the original field notes and historic labels onto new archival boards; reflecting on their history and seeing the transformation that the specimens undergo is really satisfying.

Type collections, Historics (pre-1830), Banksia, Xanthorrhoea, Arecaceae, Juncaceae and Cyperaceae in preparation for specimen Digitisation and the upcoming Herbarium move.
