TransGrid: employee environmentalists

In 2010 TransGrid sponsored the construction of the Seed Processing Room at the Australian PlantBank and from 2014 continued its commitment to this facility’s conservation programs.

Our ongoing partnership with the Australian PlantBank demonstrates the commitment that TransGrid has to the protection and preservation of our fragile environment.

Corporate Social Responsibility

TransGrid's partnership has enabled our scientists to:

  • Work towards the global target of conserving 75% of NSW threatened plant species, including flora, by 2020

  • Work towards the global target of conserving 25% of the earth's dry land plant species by 2020

  • Research conservation techniques for vulnerable rainforest species

  • Exchange with seedbanks worldwide to ensure best practice.

Employee Engagement

TransGrid employees take pride in their partnership with the Gardens and make a personal contribution via TransGrid Family Days. The families enjoy fun activities and tours and become hands-on environmentalists, helping to extend the Cumberland Plain Woodland Ecological Community, working on our African Olive Control Program, and planting over 230 new grasses at the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan.

In February 2020, TransGrid launched its second Reconciliation Action Plan at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, attended by over 50 Indigenous community members and corporate and government stakeholders.
