Learning Through Gardening -
A Growing Educational Resource

This course aims to provide a springboard for teachers to embrace the growing list of research that shows school garden programs enhance learning, improve health and can engage disengaged students.

Macquarie Fields High School

$120 per person (morning tea and lunch included)
Learning is most effective when the subject matter is "demystified," and familiar to the learner, and presented in a manner that considers the varied learning styles and even abilities of the student population found in today's classrooms.
The course will take teachers on a journey to two effective and engaging school gardens within the one day. They will run through a series of workshops from how to create specific gardens to how to best use the gardens as a functioning resource in the school. The teachers will hear from experts from the Royal Botanic Gardens as well as the schools involved in their own successful school garden programs.
Completing the course will contribute 5 hours of NESA Registered PD addressing 1.3.2, 1.6.2, 2.4.2, 3.4.2, 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
