Name a Plant Competition

Imagine being called the wrong name for 100 years? That’s exactly what has happened to one mystery plant held in our Herbarium. Mis-named for over a century, now is your chance to give it a name it can keep forever.

Who can enter?

Every primary and secondary class that attends one of our programs at the Australian Botanic Gardens Mount Annan, the Blue Mountain Botanic Gardens Mount Tomah, Centennial Parklands and the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney in 2020 can enter their suggestion to help name our mystery plant. Teachers who attend professional development sessions with Botanic Gardens & Centennial Parklands staff can also work with their classes to submit an entry.

When can you apply?

Our scientists are completing the final tests during Term 1. The competition will open in Term 2 and all schools who attended in Term 1 and due to attend in Term 2, 3 and 4 will be emailed the details of how to apply.
