Thank you for your interest in our school excursions at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.

The submission of this form is a formal request for a booking on the dates and times specified, subject to availability.

Students will learn about the local Aboriginal people of the area, the Cadigal people. Your students will be guided by Aboriginal Education Officers through cultural perspectives of traditional customs, connections to land, beliefs, stories and dance of significance to Aboriginal people.

Excursion key themes:

  • Aboriginal people and the connections with their country
  • Plants used for food, medicine, weapons, tools and shelter
  • What activities Aboriginal people do to create strong connections with culture and the land 

Students will … 

  • Explore communication methods used by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to share ideas and information, e.g. dance, stories, music and art
  • Use terms relating to time to appreciate the length of Aboriginal settlement in Australia, engage with artefacts and identify a range of natural materials used by Aboriginal peoples
  • Examine the native plants within the Cadi Jam Ora that were used by original inhabitants for food, medicine, tools and weapons

ABC Classic Kids: Music for The Dreaming

From August 15 to August 22 you can combine this program with a visit to the Sydney Opera House performance of ABC Classic Kids: Music for The Dreaming. Find out more here
