What type of hollow is it?

Hollows come in a variety of shapes and sizes and can be categorised in various ways.

    • Spout or pipe hollows are typically in a dead hollow branch (or ‘pipe’) sticking up from the tree.
    • Main branch hollows can occur in any of the forks or limbs above the main trunk.
    • Main trunk hollow occur, as the name suggest, in the main trunk of the tree. Each of these may have different properties and may be preferred by different types of wildlife.
