NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held annually across Australia to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

NAIDOC is celebrated not only within Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

The NAIDOC 2021 theme – Heal Country! – calls for all of us to protect and care for our lands, waterways, cultural heritage and sacred sites from the continued exploitation, desecration, and destruction of these significant places.

Country is more than a place, it is inherent to First Nations Peoples' identity, Lore and Law, kinship and social roles and responsibilities. Country sustains our lives in every aspect - spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and culturally.

2021’s theme ‘Heal Country!’ highlights the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' value, care and connection to country and other life it provides and nourishes. With continued respect, traditional cultural practices and knowledge, we hope to create a shared and sustainable future for everyone to enjoy.
