Rainforest in Australia

"Until [the 1990s], it was widely believed that our rainforests originated overseas and invaded the Australian continent across ancient land bridges. ...we now know that rainforest once covered large areas of Australia and actually 'fathered' the gum trees, wattles, waratahs and all the other plants which have long been regarded as the typical Australian vegetation. Australia’s unique rainforest have at last come of age2."
