Exploring seaweeds

Codium, kelps and Chondrophycus; exploring seaweeds that thrive inside the tide

Seaweeds are some of the most successful organisms found inside the marine littoral zones, with thousands of currently described species.

But what exactly are seaweeds, what makes them so successful in this stressful environment and should we even care?  In this talk we dive into these questions to explore seaweed adaptations, science and conservation, using three genera common to Australian shores; Codium, Ecklonia and Laurencia.

Dr Yola Metti from the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney will present her work at The Calyx, the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, on 16 Dec 2021 at 11.00 AEDT.

You can also check out the Inside The Tide exhibit while at the Calyx.
