3m tall Australian mintbush described

Since 1987, two specimens of an undescribed Australian mintbush (Prostanthera) have been collected at Bungonia State Conservation area, near Goulburn. Using this information from the Herbarium of NSW, Dr Trevor Wilson and his team hiked the area to search and recollect this undescribed species during its flowering period.

Staggering 3 m tall flowering shrub were found nearly at the exact location recorded and the team was able to collect its flowers which assisted Dr Wilson and the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney's team to describe this species.

Dr Wilson will publish his description soon using these additional collections and will be available on Telopea and PlantNet.
