Can’t decide where to go this New Year's Eve in Sydney?

Whether you are local or visiting down under, Sydney is one of the best places in the world to watch New Year's Eve fireworks. Can't decide where to go? The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney is an iconic location and has the best harbourside vantage points to celebrate with friends and family.

Midnight at the Oasis

Enjoy a three-course meal at your reserved table for 18+ only at Midnight at the Oasis. This prime location offers uninterrupted views and is capped at 1,500 guests so you will have plenty of space to celebrate. There is additional seating in a grandstand to watch the fireworks if you are looking for that perfect selfie opportunity.

The live DJ and live band will keep you on the dance floor all night plus your ticket includes an entrée box on arrival with a bottle of water. Afterwards, you can collect a plated main course from the restaurant followed by a dessert and a late supper snack. There are cash bars and additional snacks available to purchase on site to keep you going.

New Year's Eve The Calyx

New Year's Eve The Calyx is an intimate 18+ garden party hosted in our world-class horticulture exhibition space The Calyx. Offering unreserved cocktail lounge seating for only 300 guests to enjoy live music, interactive entertainment and displays themed to compliment the current ‘Plants With Bite’ display.

There is a 15 minute walk from the venue to an exclusive viewing area to watch the midnight fireworks. Your ticket includes a cocktail and canapés on arrival, followed by endless roving drinks service, savoury and sweet food stations and a glass of midnight sparkling at the viewing area.

There is an expansive viewing area and plenty of seating on the grass. Your ticket includes and picnic hamper and a bottle of water plus there are cash bars and additional snacks available to purchase.

The Point

The Point is a colourful and laid back summer soiree for 18+ only. With unreserved seating grab yourself a café table, a beanbag or a picnic bench and listen to the live DJ and live bands. This is a beautiful waterside location for 1,100 people to enjoy panoramic views.

Lawn with the View

Another great all ages option, Lawn with the View is a relaxed picnic styled event and the perfect way to kick back and watch the fireworks. Although there isn't entertainment at the event, it is the front row seat to the fireworks in Sydney - seating is right above the Opera House.

This is a smaller event on a private lawn for 1,000 people and your ticket includes a picnic hamper and a bottle of water. Like the other locations, there are cash bars and additional snacks available to purchase on site.

New Year's Eve Picnic

Available to those with Foundation and Friends of the Botanic Gardens membership, lay out your rug and unpack your favourite food and drink for an exclusive water-front New Year's Eve Picnic.

With stunning waterfront views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge and limited capacity, guests have the freedom to relax in the ample space provided. This self-catered picnic-style event is perfect for groups of all ages, including families with children.

Mrs Macquaries Point

With  views of Sydney Harbour, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the iconic fireworks, Mrs Macquaries Point is a popular place to be on New Year’s Eve.

Available to the public for just a donation on entry, if you are heading to Mrs Mac's Point be prepared to get up early! The queue forms on Art Gallery Road from 7.00 am and gates close when the site is full, which is usually in the early afternoon.

Visitors can set up picnic rugs along the western side of the Point to view the celebrations, and food and beverage outlets including bar service is available. This area is not BYO and we recommend reading more about planning your evening and the conditions for entry at Mrs Macquaries Point.
