Fuel your Vivid Sydney adventures in the Garden

One of the most unique experiences at Vivid Sydney Festival this year is like nothing else that Australia has ever seen and it is truly lighting up our lives. Yes, the 20 installations peppered throughout the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney are impressive but we are talking about Australia’s first Cupcake ATM.

This cotton-candy pink striped ATM is taking all our money and in return, it’s satisfying our sugar cravings with magical melt-in-your-mouth galaxy themed cupcakes. Vivid visitors (Vivitors?!) can choose from two delicious vegan friendly flavours, red velvet or choc banana courtesy of Sparkle Cupcakery. We aren’t saying what our favourite flavour is, you’ll have to try them both and we can compare notes afterwards.

The colourful assortment of yummy offerings doesn’t stop there, follow the glow and you will find light bulb cocktails. Yup, another legendary way to treat yo’ self. Fuel your after dark adventures with two fruity flavours, a gin and vodka option – no matter which spirit you are in the mood for. The Melopepo is a blend of melon and peach liqueur combined with vodka and fresh lime poured over a citrus jelly base. Or relax by the lights with a Gin Rubus, a raspberry liqueur, orgeat and London Dry cocktail over a port wine jelly base.

To add to the excitement of lights, we have set up an extra stop along the illuminated pathways of the Garden. There are two food and beverage hubs, one near the magnificent Aqueous and the other by Oasis, an installation proven to be a fan favourite. For those looking to grab n’ go we recommend the nachos or hot dogs – both of which have deliciously irresistible vegetarian options. The substitutions are so good that we asked the chef if there was a mix up. He happily confirmed that yes, they taste like the real deal but they are truly vegetarian and yes that’s Quorn in the nachos. Yum.

An illuminative experience at The Calyx

If you are looking for a truly unforgettable evening, the Vivid Ideas + the Hard Thing To Talk About immersive dinner series will be hosted at The Calyx on 2 June and they will be delving bravely and curiously into the intriguing topic of Enlightenment.

Explore aliveness, ancient wisdom, philosophy and meaning over an immersive feast for the senses combining a curated food and wine experience, evocative performances and spoken word designed to inspire, delight and spark great conversation.
