Say "I do" at the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden

Whether you dream of tying the knot in a flurry of ethereal cherry blossoms, under a canopy of golden autumn leaves or beside a tumbling waterfall, the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden offers a range of idyllic wedding locations.

Recognised as one of the most spectacular cool climate gardens in Australia, the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah on the fringe of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area is the ultimate romantic venue for a garden wedding, with a choice of beautiful, secluded locations scattered through the 28 hectares of curated themed gardens.

Seasonal glory

Whatever season you’re planning your special day for, the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden has guaranteed colour and ambience, preened to perfection by a dedicated team of experts. Spring, of course, is traditional wedding season, and this is when the Botanic Garden is at its most spectacular, with avenues of azaleas and rhododendrons, as well as carpets of late-blooming bulbs. Wisteria arbours are a veil of purple, and you may be lucky enough to say “I do” under a fluffy pink cloud of ephemeral cherry blossoms, falling petals creating a luscious pink carpet underfoot.

Autumn is another showstopping season in the Blue Mountains, when cool climate trees such as Japanese maples, oaks and elms are ablaze with shades of gold, red and russet. In Summer, these trees provide welcome shade as long afternoons of sunshine enhance a spirit of celebration; while even in Winter, the Gardens are dappled with glorious light, late blooms such as camellias, feathery proteas and meadows of purple crocus and snow drops adding a delicate pop of colour.

Experience the idyllic garden wedding you've always dreamed about.

Your guests will never forget the beauty and romance of your big day.

A venue for every taste

A choice of magical venues for both your ceremony and reception awaits within the four distinct precincts of the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden.

The Formal Garden, designed to resemble a traditional grand European walled garden, is ablaze with colour in every season, from beds of vibrant tulips and nodding dahlias and, of course, a romantic trellis of wisteria for that perfect photo opportunity. Conveniently located for your guests near the visitor centre and parking area, the Formal Garden also features a lawn where a marquee can be erected. This area of the garden has access to electricity, is wheelchair accessible and can host up to 150 guests.

With panoramic views across the wilderness of the UNESCO Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, the Wedding Tree Terrace is the Garden’s signature wedding ceremony venue. This immaculate terraced lawn is located under a sprawling Nepalese Elder tree and overlooks the centrepiece Rock Garden with its terraced drystone walls. This area can host up to 80 guests, and is ideal for a ceremony and post-nuptial cocktails.

If you dream of tying the knot barefoot on a sandy shore accompanied by the tinkle of falling water, The Beach may be the location for you. Located at the base of the concentric central Rock Garden, this area is at its most wondrous during late Spring and Summer, when proteas, waratahs, water lilies and the rare blue South American puyas are in bloom. The Beach also features spectacular views across the wilderness, with a capacity for 80 guests.

With its signature cool climate plantings, the Residence Lawn is a picture of perfection, particularly during Spring and Autumn when it’s at its most vibrant. With a capacity for 150 guests, this is one of the Garden’s most iconic options for both ceremonies and cocktail receptions. The Eucalyptus Lawn is another shady venue that provides a rustic, quintessentially Australian feel for your ceremony, a stunning choice for nature lovers.

The Heath and Heather Garden provides a private setting with an awesome valley view backdrop for a romantic ceremony or cocktail reception. This location can host up to 150 guests. Meanwhile, for a small seated reception (for up to 60 guests), there is also the indoor option of the Waratah Room, overlooking the Residence Garden.

Celebrate your love your way in the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden.
