The Calyx is located in the heart of the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and having officially opened in June 2016 it is one of Sydney’s newest and unique premium event venues.
The stunning contemporary architecture allows horticultural displays, educational and privately hired events all incorporated within one versatile facility. The Calyx has the largest green wall in the southern hemisphere and is an integrated mix of indoor and outdoor areas, with the space changing yearly, reinventing itself through emotively themed display.
The theme of the current display is Plants with Bite. Curated by the Garden’s Director of Horticulture, Jimmy Turner, Plants with Bite tells the story of the captivating and bizarre world of carnivorous plants. As fascinating as they are horrifying, these plants are truly a miracle of evolution. Feast your eyes on this free display suitable for all ages.
The Calyx is open daily from 10 am - 4 pm (closed on 25th December)
Please note: The Calyx is occasionally closed for private access. Updates will be published on this page so we suggest checking here, or phoning (02) 9231 8104 before arriving.
Shop and Cafe
A retail shop stocking a selection of garden themed items, souvenirs and Plants with Bite merchandise is open during the display operating times. Plus a cafe serving hot drinks, snacks and comfortable seating areas are open daily for you to enjoy.
