Client access
During event occupation, approved vehicles can access The Calyx via Access Road off Mrs Macquaries Road for deliveries only. View Calyx vehicle restriction information here.
Calyx staff will be responsible for opening and closing the venue as required. Prior to occupation, a schedule of your access requirements will need to be provided to the Events and Venues Officer.

Guest access
Direct access is via the Morshead Fountain gate on Macquarie Street. Please refer to Site Map for further information.

Drivers with a Mobility Parking Scheme permit may park for free for the duration of their stay at any metered parking space on Mrs Macquaries Road. The closest accessible parking to The Calyx (two spaces) are located at the entrance to Access Road, outside Woolloomooloo Gate

All catering must be supplied by the exclusive venue caterer.

The Trust will clean the venue prior to your event. The site must be left clean and tidy with all hired furniture, equipment and rubbish removed.

Electronic check-in upon arrival at The Calyx is mandatory for all guests, suppliers, and contractors.
The Calyx has Service NSW COVID Safe Check-in QR codes placed at entry points.

To streamline the check-in process, we recommend that all guests and suppliers download the Service NSW application on their phone prior to arriving on site.

The event hirer must comply with the COVID-19 Safety Plan developed and implemented by The Calyx.

Cut flowers and foliage are permitted on site with the exception of listed weeds. 
Any plant item containing soil content is not permitted on site.

Open flames, untethered balloons, confetti, and glitter are not permitted.
The use of flameless candles is encouraged.

All event decorations need to be planned and installed as free-standing items. Attachment of items to internal or external walls, trees, buildings, heritage features or other fixed structures including the white framework on the Terrace is not permitted.
Rigging points may only be used for static displays and are subject to approval.

Notes:

  1. A minimum of two guards are required for up to 100 patrons with a further one guard required for each additional 100 patrons.
  2. All fees quoted are GST inclusive. Additional miscellaneous charges may apply.
  3. Duration of Function Hire is to include set up and pack up of venue.
  4. Fees valid 1 October 2021 - 30 June 2022.

There is minimal furniture supplied at The Calyx. It is the hirer’s responsibility to arrange all necessary furniture for their requirements. 

Indoor: All areas are lit with dimmable down lights and track lighting.

Outdoor: The Terrace, Island and Calyx surrounds are lit with spotlights and coloured up lighting.

Guest parking is available in metered parking bays on Mrs Macquaries Road.

There is no vehicle access to The Calyx Loading Area for event clients, patrons &/or guests.

Vehicle access to the Calyx Loading area is available for approved suppliers of equipment for loading and unloading purposes only. All vehicle must park on Mrs Macquaries Road.

Train: The closest train stations are Martin Place and Circular Quay station.

Bus: #441 runs from Circular Quay to the Art Gallery of NSW.

Taxi: Taxi pick up from Macquarie Street. Hirer to organise if required.

 There is permanent signage throughout the Royal Botanic Garden giving directions to The Calyx. 

There is strictly no smoking inside the venue. All cigarette butts must be placed in the receptacles provided in the designated smoking area.

Guest WIFI is available at The Calyx for use during your event.
