The Little Book of Walks

Explore Sydney's Royal Botanic Garden at your own pace with The Little Book of Walks.

In celebration of the 200th birthday of the Royal Botanic Garden, the Volunteer Guides have designed five self-guided walks especially for visitors who would like to see the sights at their leisure.

The Little Book of Walks is a special edition visitor guide featuring the highlights of the Garden, as well as some of its less well-known beauties.

Five themed walks have been developed by guides, Rosemary Roberts and Toni McDowell to showcase our history, world-class science and research facilities, wildlife, public art and plants. Each walk takes between 30 and 60 minutes on average and they are graded easy to moderate.

Our Volunteer Guides have been leading free daily walks for individuals and small family groups in the garden for over 35 years. They have also developed over 200 themed tours for larger groups or to complement festivals and special events in the Garden.

Volunteers across a wide range of programs contributed more than 60,000 hours to our organisation last year and they are invaluable to so much of the work we do.

The Little Book of Walks is a great keepsake of your visit, packed full of iconic images and fascinating facts – pop in and buy a copy at the Garden Shop when you're here.

We wanted to develop something tangible to share the Garden with our visitors and to represent the important work of the Volunteer Guides.
