Behind the Scenes of the PlantBank

Due to the current covid 19 restrictions on NSW, this event will be postponed to a later date in Winter. 

In the last 200 years Australia has lost around one third of its rainforests

Join Cathy Offord, Principal Research Scientist at the Australian PlantBank, to learn and explore their ongoing Rainforest Conservation Project and see how they are developing unconventional methods to store rainforest seeds that don’t tolerate conventional seed banking.

Go behind-the-scenes and get close to the science of seed banking, an insurance policy against extinction of plants. You will get to see areas of the PlantBank never seen by the general public, and enjoy a day at the Australian Botanic Garden.

Transport via coach included, with a coach departing from Western Concourse Coach Terminal, Central Station Sydney.

Customer: The person who is attending the event. Member’s Price: Available for customers who will hold a current membership with Foundation and Friends of the Botanic Gardens at the time of the event/activity. Customers, individuals or groups must be named as membership holders. Non-Member’s Price: Available to all customers who are not current membership holders with Foundation and Friends of the Botanic Gardens. For cancellations of less than 10 days: No refunds or transfers. For cancellations of 10 to 30 days prior: Cancellation fee is 50% of event/activity price, capped at a maximum of $100. The remaining amount paid can be used to transfer to another event/activity or refunded. For cancellations of 30 days or more: No cancellation fee applied. The full amount paid can be used to transfer to another event/activity or refunded.
