Bridgeview - NYE 2022

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Bridgeview! Set on the Tarpeian Lawn of the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, Bridgeview features fantastic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay, and of course fantastic views of the fireworks on the Bridge. You'll also enjoy live entertainment to make sure you celebrate in style.

Each ticket includes entry and a picnic hamper including entrée, dinner, desert, snacks, a late-night supper and a bottle of water. Bars will be serving a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and light snacks.

The event, set on the Tarpeian Lawn of the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, has front seat views of the fireworks on the Bridge and the Harbour.

Every NYE ticket purchased helps to support the Gardens' vital science, horticulture and conservation work.

Important Information

Q: What time is the event?
Gates to the event open at 6.00 pm with last entry at 8.30 pm. The event finishes at 1.00 am (with last drinks at 12.30 am).

Q: What is included in the ticket price?
Your ticket ensures you hassle-free managed access to the event site where you can enjoy fantastic views and entertainment all evening. Upon arrival you will receive a picnic box as well as savoury snacks, sweet treats, and a bottle of water. You will also receive supper after 9pm.

Every ticket purchased supports the work of the Royal Botanic Gardens' science, horticulture, and conservation projects.

Q: What entertainment is at the event?
Bridgeview is a family friendly event offering patrons a range of entertainment including a live DJ, Band, and dance floor. Patrons will hear the synchronized fireworks music broadcast.  

Q: What time are the fireworks? And what view will I have?
There are two fireworks displays on New Year’s Eve, the first is at 9:00pm, with the main display at midnight. The display is synchronised to music which is broadcast at the event. Note that some views of the fireworks from this site are partially restricted by tree canopies. However, much of the site allows unrestricted views of both the 9:00pm and the Midnight fireworks

Q: What are the seating arrangements?
Bridgeview is a picnic style event so please bring your picnic blanket along. Chairs are not permitted; however low-level beach style chairs are permitted. There is an accessible viewing area with limited seating available upon request.

Q: Can I bring children to Bridgeview?
Bridgeview is an all-ages event. Everyone entering the site regardless of age must have a ticket. There are no concessions for children. Special consideration may be given on request for infants under three years old. To lodge your request please email:

You are welcome to bring strollers, but we request you collapse them to ensure all guests can enjoy the views.

Q: What should I wear?  
Guests are advised to wear comfortable footwear (the event site is grass terrain). Guests are also advised to bring warmer clothing as it can become quite cool at night. Please note that the event is outdoors in the Royal Botanic Garden and will go ahead in all weather conditions. We suggest you dress and prepare accordingly.

Q: When do ticket sales close?
Ticket sales will close at 2.00 pm on the 30 December unless sold out prior.

Q: Will the event be Covid safe?
The Royal Botanic Gardens takes the safety of our guests very seriously. All events at the Gardens during NYE2022 will be Covid safe and all events will follow the relevant Health guidelines.

Q: Will I get a refund if the event is cancelled due to Covid?

Q: What food can I expect?

Q: I have a special dietary requirement. What should I do?
The published menu and corresponding ticket type accommodates most of the common dietary requirements such as vegetarian, vegan, lactose free and halal. Please ensure you purchase the dietary ticket to reflect your requirements. The caterers will assist with other dietary requirements where possible but requests MUST be made upon booking tickets via the link provided and the ‘Other Special Dietary’ ticket type MUST be selected.
Q: Can I bring additional food to site?
No. Additional snacks are available to purchase on site if required.

Q: What beverages are available?
Each guest receives a bottle of water on arrival and multiple drinking water refill stations are available on site.

Beverages are not included in the ticket price but can be purchased at the cash bar. Only ticket holders over the age of 18 years will be permitted to purchase alcoholic beverages. Photo ID may be requested. 

Q: Can I bring alcohol or other drinks to Bridgeview?
No. Bridgeview is a licensed event and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for sale. Beverages bought to the venue will be confiscated at the bag check. The Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust reserves the right to confiscate any restricted items and/or refuse entry to any persons not complying with Conditions of Entry.

Q: Where is Bridgeview located?
Bridgeview is held at the Tarpeian Way precinct, an elevated lawn area overlooking Circular Quay, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House inside the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney. Entry and exit is via Macquarie Street, which is closed to traffic on New Year’s Eve.

Q: How do I get there?
Due to extensive road closures and high pedestrian traffic in the city, public transport is the easiest option to get to the event. There are additional trains, bus and ferry services available and transport hubs are within easy reach of this site.

The closest train stations are: 

•    Martin Place Train Station: 950m to the managed access entry gate on Macquarie Street.
•    St James Train Station: 1100m to the managed access gate entry on Macquarie Street.

Q: Is Bridgeview wheelchair accessible event?
No, Bridgeview is not wheelchair accessible. It is a picnic style event with much of the site being sloped grass terrain. For detailed accessibility information please see the Bridgeview Accessibility Information [PDF].

Smoking: Bridgeview is a non-smoking NYE event. There will be a designated smoking area away from where patrons are seated.

Pass Outs: There are NO pass outs once a ticket holder has entered

Conditions of Entry

Please remember you are entering the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and Domain – a sensitive environment. Please consider the safety of other patrons. All patrons entering the site will be subject to security bag check and must show valid identification and tickets. Restricted items will be confiscated and entry refused to any persons not complying with conditions of entry.
The following items will not be allowed to be brought into the event site:

•    No BYO beverages including alcohol and water
•    No glass
•    No sparklers, party poppers or candles
•    No umbrellas (personal umbrellas under 50 cm are allowed)
•    No chairs – picnic rug seating only
​•    No large tripods (small mini portable tripods are acceptable)

Responsible Service of Alcohol

Alcohol sales are subject to Responsible Service of Alcohol and Harm Minimisation Practices which will be strictly enforced.
•    Any patrons under the influence of alcohol on arrival will be refused entry.
•    Only people aged 18 and over are able to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages. 
•    Patrons are strictly prohibited from supplying alcohol to minors onsite (i.e. persons under 18 years of age).
•    You may be required to present photographic ID to security and bar staff in order to purchase alcohol.
