Presented by Ruth Law
Ruth Law's exhibition Brush with the Law is an eclectic mix of Collage interspersed with brushstrokes of gouache, creating still life with Wildflowers. Colour captivates the viewer, enticing them to linger in the painting.
Ruth has transformed her wildflowers into the painterly version of collage, the paper has been painted, torn and pasted, adding playfulness to her work. Some are cut into triangles modelling the object, she never loses sight of the brush, using it for highlights, and for the background.
Ruth's inspiration derives from walks in nature, where she is inspired by the untamed landscape, this inspiration is translated into her artwork - in this exhibition she has used Gouache and Ink on handmade rice paper.
2020 marks Ruth's 21st year of solo exhibitions, she has been exhibiting at the Botanic Gardens since 2004, and loving it!
