Far North Queensland Tour

The beauty of the rainforest and the ruggedness of the surrounding areas will be explored.

The Trip
No other region of the world is like far North Queensland. An area that includes the ancient Daintree Rainforest, the Great Barrier Reef and the Wooroonooran National Park section of the UNESCO Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. This program is a stunning botanical and cultural exploration encompassing unique gardens, biodiversity, indigenous learnings, geology and sustainability along with an exploration of North Queensland's most famous National Parks.

Accompanied by your Foundation & Friends escort, Relle Mott, this trip is sure to delight!

Another great part of this tour is a portion of your tour fee goes to the Foundation & Friends which benefits the Gardens' conservation, science, education, and horticulture efforts.

About your Leader: Relle Mott

Relle Mott has been associated with the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney for many years as a member of the Education team, the Volunteer Guides group, and the Foundation & Friends. Relle has led tours for Foundation & Friends to Japan, Uzbekistan and China sharing her love of plants, new cultures and destinations with like-minded travellers since 2013.

Relle dallied with architecture at university, studied in Japan, became a teacher, then entered the wonderful world of horticulture. Growing up in hot, dry Western Queensland, the lush coastal gardens of relatives imbued in Relle a love of tropical plants.

As a keen walker, Relle normally leads small groups on pilgrimage trails through the mountains of Japan several times a year. When at home she is a gardener, potter and sailor with a special interest in Japanese ceramics and the plant hunters of Asia in the 19th and 20th centuries.
