Garden Grubs

Time to ditch the screens and get outside - this all-day holiday program is full of fun adventures in the Garden! 

Kids will spend the day exploring and participating in a range of creative and action-based activities whilst connecting with nature. Our talented and experienced Garden educators provide a nurturing and safe environment for Garden Grubs to explore the fascinating world of bugs, trees, nature, plant science and horticulture. Fun!

WEEK 1: 

11 January: Bugs and Beasties – Kids will go on a Garden bug hunt adventure for multi-legged critters play with their own bee goggles and engage in nature play craft activities to make their own giant bugs and beasties.
12 January: Sensory Garden – Take a sensory adventure through the Herb Garden, Rose Garden and the new colourful Love Your Nature exhibit at the Calyx. Small explorers will spend time dancing in the rainbows and making natural bath-bombs to take home.

19 January: Birds – Learn about all things feathery and fun! Make flowery bird sun-catchers, craft leafy nests, make bird seed-feeders and even go on a quest through the Garden to find real flying and wading birds.
20 January: Lunar New Year – In celebration of Lunar New Year, the garden grubs will paint cherry blossom fans, make their own candles, and don leafy rabbit ears to go on a garden hunt filled with everything red - from flowers and fruits to gorgeous leaves.

23 January: First Nations – In this First Nations themed nature-play day, young explorers will play traditional cultural games, learn how to weave, make lemon myrtle tea, damper and even take a guided bush-tucker tour through the Garden with their own First Nation’s guide.
24 January: Garden splash – For those who love the water! This splash-tastic experience is filled with fun water-games including dip netting, spotting water-critters, and watering plants around the Yellowwood Garden. Kids will make a water-print library bag for the new school year!

Standard day: $90 per child /$81 Foundation and Friends member. Long day: $120 per child /$108 Foundation and Friends member
