What is the event?
Laneway Festival is an annual multi-stage music festival that will take place in the Domain for the first time this year.

Which areas of The Domain / Garden are impacted by this event and when?
This event takes place in the Phillip Precinct of the Domain, on Sunday 2 February 2020 from 11.00 am to 10.30 pm.
I am not attending the event, will I still be able to access the Domain / Garden on the event day/s?
The event site will be fenced from 27 January 2020 – 5 February 2020. Due to the significant size of the infrastructure and set up of this event, for safety reasons it is necessary to close:
Phillip Path from 27 January – 5 February 2020
Arbor Day Walk from 7.00 am; 2 February 2020 – 7.00 am; 3 February 2020
All other areas of the Domain and the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney will remain open as usual.
What will the traffic and access impacts be?
We encourage patrons to use public transport to and from the event:
- Train: exit via St James, Martin Place or Circular Quay
- Ferry: walk to The Domain from Circular Quay
- Bus: for timetables, maps and trip planning visit www.transportnsw.info
To facilitate easier patron access and parking in the vicinity please note the following traffic changes will occur:
Inbound: Art Gallery road inbound closed from 8:30pm until approx.11.15 pm
Road Closure Area: From 9:30pm until approx. 11.15 pm the following roads will be closed;
- Art Gallery Road from Hospital Road to Mrs Macquarie’s Road
- Mrs Macquarie’s Rd from Art Gallery Rd
- St Marys Rd from Prince Albert Road to Sir John Young Crescent
- Prince Albert Road from Macquarie Street to Art Gallery Road
- Hospital Road from Art Gallery Road to Shakespeare Place
- Cathedral Street at St Marys Road
Notes:
- Managed access to Hospital Rd. for emergency vehicles
- Managed access to Cathedral St. for authorised vehicles
No gate closures for this event
For the purposes of safety and staging of the event, it is necessary to close:
- Phillip Path from 27 January – 5 February 2020
- Arbor Day Walk from 7.00 am; 2 February 2020 – 7.00 am; 3 February 2020
Limited meter parking is available on Mrs Macquaries Road and the Domain Carpark. For prices visit:

- Mobility Pass Holder access
Accessible parking available on Access Road just after the land bridge. A drop off zone will be operational on event day on Hospital Road near the corner of Art Gallery Road. On event egress, mobility pick up available on St Marys Road, access from Sir John Young Crescent.
Will the Terrace on the Domain / Botanic Garden restaurant be open as usual?
The Terrace on the Domain and the Botanic Gardens Restaurant will be trading as normal.
Will the Garden Shop still be operating?
Yes
Will the Choo Choo Express still be operating?
Yes
Will there be any sound impacts related to this event?
Sound checks and rehearsals will be carried out between 4.00 pm and 7.00 pm on Saturday 1 February 2020 and 10.00 am until 11.00 am on Sunday 2 February 2020.
