Mrs Macquarie’s Point is a large garden area that hugs the harbour on the edge of the Botanic Gardens and provides a great vantage place to be on New Year’s Eve and enjoy the fireworks.

[SOLD OUT] Mrs Macquarie's Point Gold is seated on the beautiful vantage point of Mrs Macquarie’s Point, connected to the lush expanse of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Mrs Macquarie's Point Gold is on the most north-easterly part of Farm Cove which looks out over the bustling harbourside vistas including the Harbour Bridge, Fort Denison and the Opera House and has wonderful opportunities for views of the 9pm and midnight fireworks.

Mrs Macquaries Point Silver provides a beautiful, relaxed garden for your New Year’s Eve celebration. Silver GA tickets have access to bathrooms, free drinking water, bars serving a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and a wide range of Sydney’s famous food vans

Mrs Macquarie's Point Gold Ticket:

This area has wonderful opportunities for fantastic views of the 9pm and midnight fireworks. The Gold area has excellent views with a few tree canopies. Minimal areas of the site will be restricted viewing due to tree canopies. Gold tickets provide the best vantage points.This area has scattered trees which are the perfect respite for a hot summer’s day.

Entry is open from 4pm for patrons to pick their prime spots. This area is first in, best seated! (Please see site map for location) Gold tickets have access to bathrooms, free drinking water and a bar just for them serving a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Gold Ticket holders will be able to purchase light snacks from the bar area inside the Gold Area, however for more substantial food items, patrons will be asked to visit the wide variety of food trucks located in the Silver Area.

Mrs Macquarie's Point Silver Ticket:

Mrs Macquaries Point provides a beautiful, relaxed garden for your New Year’s Eve celebration. (Please see site map for location). Silver GA tickets have access to bathrooms, free drinking water, bars serving a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and a wide range of Sydney’s famous food vans. Entry to this area is permitted from 3.00pm.

As Mrs Macquaries Point has a wide range of tree canopies, there are areas with restricted viewing. The best viewing areas in the Silver area are taken on a first come basis. The Royal Botanic Gardens cannot be held responsible for restricted views and no refund will be given.

Q: What time is the event?
Mrs Macquaries Point Gold: gates at 4:00 pm with last entry at 8.30 pm the event finishes at 1.00 am (with last drinks at 12.30 am).

Mrs Macquaries Point Silver: gates at 3.00 pm with last entry at 8.30 pm the event finishes at 12.30 am (with last drinks at 12.00 am).

Q: What is included in the ticket price?
Your ticket ensures exclusive access to Mrs Macquarie's Point, bars, food trucks and amenities.

Every ticket purchased supports the work of the Royal Botanic Garden’s science, horticulture and conservation projects.

Q: What beverages are available?
Water refill stations are available. Beverages are not included in the ticket price and can be purchased at the cash bars. Photo ID may be requested.

Q: Can I bring alcohol to Mrs Macquarie's Point?
No. Mrs Macquarie's Point is a licensed event, and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for sale. Opened beverages will be confiscated at the bag check. The Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust reserves the right to confiscate any restricted items and/or refuse entry to any persons not complying with Conditions of Entry.

Q: What are the seating arrangements?
Mrs Macquarie's Point is a picnic style event so please bring your picnic blanket along. Camping chairs are not permitted but you may bring low line beach seats or flat fold mats. There is an accessible viewing area with limited seating available upon request.

Q: Can I bring children to Mrs Macquarie's?
Mrs Macquarie's Point is an all-ages event. Everyone entering the site regardless of age must have a ticket. Children aged 3-17 years old must purchase a Child's ticket. Special consideration may be given on request for infants under three years old. To lodge your request please email You are welcome to bring strollers, but we request you to collapse them ensure all guests can enjoy the views.

Q: What should I wear?
This is an outdoor event which will proceed in all weather. Guests are advised to wear comfortable footwear (the event site is grass terrain) Guests are also advised to bring warmer clothing as it can become quite cool at night.

Q: When do ticket sales close?
Ticket sales will close at 2.00 pm on the 30 December unless sold out prior.

Q: Will the event be Covid Safe?
The Royal Botanic Gardens takes the safety of our guests very seriously. All events at the Gardens during NYE2022 will be Covid safe and all events will follow the relevant Health guidelines.

Q: Will I get a refund if the event is cancelled due to Covid?

Q: Where is Mrs Macquarie’s Point located?

Mrs Macquarie’s Point is held at Mrs Macquarie's Point, adjacent to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair.

‘Mrs Macquarie’s Point Gold’ ticket holders will be sitting at the end of the Point overlooking Sydney Harbour with panoramic views of the Harbour, the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Entry and exit for all Mrs Macquarie’s Point guests is via Art Gallery Road, which is closed to traffic on New Year’s Eve.

The event site is approximately 700 metres or a 15-minute walk from the entry gate on Art Gallery Road. Pathways are sealed and there is a moderate slope to negotiate.

Q: How do I get there?

Due to extensive road closures and high pedestrian traffic in the city, public transport is the easiest way to get to the event. There are additional trains, bus and ferry services available and transport hubs are within easy reach of this site.

The closest train stations are:

  • Martin Place Train Station: 1 km from the managed access entry gate on Art Gallery Rd.
  • St James Train Station: 900 m to the managed access gate entry gate on Art Gallery Rd.

Q: Is Mrs Macquarie's Point a wheelchair accessible NYE event?

Yes, Mrs Macquarie's Point is wheelchair accessible, but it is a picnic style event and much of the site is grass terrain. Movement around the site can be restricted as spectators are seated on the lawn. Aisle ways are maintained to allow guests to move from viewing areas to amenities/facilities.

There is an accessible viewing area that is suitable for wheelchairs and with limited seating and available upon request. If required, ticket holders can book mobility assistance in advance of the event.

Facilities and Site Details

Smoking: This is a non-smoking event. There will be a designated smoking area away from where patrons are seated.

Pass Outs: There are NO pass outs once a ticket holder has entered

Conditions of Entry

Please remember you are entering the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and Domain – a sensitive environment. Please consider the safety of other patrons. All patrons entering the site will be subject to security bag check and must show valid identification and tickets. Restricted items may be confiscated and entry refused to any persons not complying with conditions of entry. 

The following items will not be allowed to be brought into the event site:
•    No BYO beverages including alcohol and water
•    No glass
•    No sparklers, party poppers or candles
•    No umbrellas (personal umbrellas under 50 cm are allowed)
​•    No large tripods (small mini portable tripods are acceptable)

Responsible service of alcohol

Alcohol sales are subject to Responsible Service of Alcohol and Harm Minimisation Practices which will be strictly enforced. 
•    Any patrons under the influence of alcohol on arrival will be refused entry.
•    Only people aged 18 and over can drink and purchase alcoholic beverages. 
•    Patrons are also strictly prohibited from supplying alcohol to minors onsite (i.e. persons under 18 years of age).
•    You may be required to present photographic ID to security and bar staff to purchase alcohol.
