Transformation: Art in the Recycle
Coming to Lion Gate Lodge in August 2021, Transformation is an initiative to draw attention to an ever growing need to stop “the use and throw away habit’’. As the world struggles under the weight of an ever-increasing quantity of waste on both land and sea our planet is groaning under the weight of rubbish! However, waste can be useful in its reuse especially in the art world.
The Foundation and Friends of the Botanic Gardens will present an exhibition which will focus on the recycling and reuse of various materials including plastics, textiles, wood, glass and organic found materials.
Many prominent artists will be exhibiting including sculptors from Sculpture by the Sea, the University of Technology's Department of Design, Technology and Architecture under the leadership of Associate Professor Tim Schork and over 30 other artists covering a variety of genres.
Get a first look at this much-anticipated exhibition at the Opening Celebration, where you can mingle with the artists and the exhibition Curator, sip on a glass of wine, and enjoy shopping for exquisite pieces in the beautiful Lion Gate Lodge before the general public.
