Autumn Bushwalk in Royal National Park with Dr Peter Weston

Explore the beautiful Royal National Park in the peak of Autumn foliage with Dr Peter Weston, Systematic Botanist at the National Herbarium of New South Wales.

See flowering orchids and other native plants, colourful foliage, and stunning scenery. To prepare for this walk, we recommend purchasing the Field Guide to Royal National Park, which is available in the Foundation and Friends Cottage.

Beginning at Waterfall Station, Peter will guide you through the Uloola Fire Trail to Uloola Falls where you will break for lunch. From there you will continue the trek along Karloo Pools Track to Karloo Pools where there will be an optional refreshing swim. You will arrive to Heathcote Station at 16:00, where you may depart toward your preferred destination.

Hikers must be fit enough to walk 11 km in a day, including the 130 m descent to Kangaroo Creek and the 130 m ascent to Heathcote. Wear appropriate clothes, good walking shoes and a hat, a small back pack with sun screen, spare warm clothing, a raincoat, food for the day and 1.5 L of drinking water. Bring a swimming costume if you’re keen for a swim at Karloo Pool.

Customers, individuals or groups must be named as membership holders. Non-Member’s Price: Available to all customers who are not current membership holders with Foundation and Friends of the Botanic Gardens. For cancellations of less than 10 days: No refunds or transfers. For cancellations of 10 to 30 days prior: Cancellation fee is 50% of event/activity price, capped at a maximum of $100. The remaining amount paid can be used to transfer to another event/activity or refunded. For cancellations of 30 days or more: No cancellation fee applied. The full amount paid can be used to transfer to another event/activity or refunded.
