Lissa de Sailles has studied basketry over the past six years with many international and local artists, the foremost being the late Jim Walliss. Her inspiration comes from a deep connection with nature and a love of gardening and working with plant fibres. Lissa has recently returned from a six week study tour in the USA and is eager to share her experiences and newly acquired skills.
Stories about cloth and its meaning in our lives can be shared during the course of the workshop. Participants will learn how to twine and require a reasonable level of manual dexterity. There will be materials supplied on the day (but you are welcome to bring a selection of your own fabric stash). Bring a sharp pair of scissors and a note pad and pen.
