It's National Threatened Species Day on 7 September and for 2 weeks afterwards - from 10 to 23 September you can view selected artworks of the finalists in the Threatened Species Children's Art Competition at The Royal Botanic Garden. The artworks will be on display around the beautiful Children's Fig Tree by Sydney Harbour.
The Threatened Species Children’s Art competition helps children to unleash their creativity and raises awareness of threatened species at the same time. There are now over 1000 threatened plants and animals in NSW alone, many of which are facing extinction if we don’t act quickly.
Last year, over 1600 children participated, from sixty three schools, fourteen other programs, and hundreds of individual families. This year we are hoping that even more schools and more children will get involved.
