Feeding Time at Plants with Bite!

Due to the Venus Fly Traps going into dormancy over the winter, we will be hosting Feeding Time again in September.

Delve into the fascinating world of carnivorous plants and have your chance to get up close with these creepy and weird specimens. Join us for this fun and educational experience where you will learn about the evolution of carnivorous plants, the different trap types and how they go about catching their prey.

Set within The Calyx which is showing the Plants With Bite display that houses a colossal collection of carnivorous plants, you have the chance to get up close and personal with a range of trap types. The educator will deomonstrate a simple experiment and will give you your own Venus fly trap and crickets to feed it. You will also have the opportunity to attach a digital microscope to your smartphone and capture close up pictures of the traps in action. The session will end with you being given your own edible cricket to gobble up and try!

This is an experience not to miss! In the lead up to the event, check out our Branch Out podcast and listen to the Plants with Bite episode.
