Florilegium Exhibition

Temporarily suspended - see here for details.

The Society is exhibiting 45 new botanical paintings which link the historic Banks and Solander specimens held in the National Herbarium of NSW with the Living Collection of the three Botanic Gardens on the 250th anniversary of their collection on Captain Cook's voyage in HMB Endeavour.

Curated by Colleen Morris, Botanic Endeavour: the Florilegium Society celebrates the Banks and Solander Collection will invite reflection on the significance of the historic specimens to science, to the Aboriginal people, the collectors and the Gardens.

Treasures from the Daniel Solander Library, including some of Banks' Florilegium plates will be displayed. The Society will also launch a limited-edition book on the Banks and Solander Collection with a colour plate of each painting, along with the newly-digitised specimen.
