One of Sydney’s most unique venues The Calyx, in the heart of the Royal Botanic Garden, will host a luxurious cocktail party to celebrate New Year’s Eve. This year the venue is presenting a vibrant, exciting exhibition of carnivorous plants where the fusion of flora and art provide the themed backdrop for New Year.

The Calyx, in the heart of The Royal Botanic Garden, will host a luxurious garden party to celebrate New Year’s Eve. One of Sydney’s most unique venues is currently presenting a vibrant, exciting exhibition of carnivorous plants where the fusion of flora and art provide a fun backdrop for a truly special New Year’s Eve event.

This world-class horticultural exhibition space will come alive with inspired displays and activations to keep you entertained, whilst enjoying gourmet food stations, free-flowing drinks and plentiful canapes. A late night walk through the Garden will take you to a waterside viewing area where bubbles will be served, while you enjoy the midnight fireworks.

Q: Will the New Year's Eve events go ahead if the weather is bad?
This event is a combination of indoors and outdoors which will proceed in all weather. Fireworks are presented by City of Sydney. In the event that the fireworks are cancelled, the Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust will not be held responsible or provide compensation.

Q: What is included in the ticket price?
Your ticket gives you exclusive access to The Calyx, waterfront viewing of the midnight fireworks, an all-inclusive beverage package, food stations and canapes. The event also offers live music and roving entertainment.

Every ticket purchased supports the work of the Royal Botanic Garden’s science, horticulture and conservation projects.

Q: What beverages are available?
Alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, tea and coffee are included in the ticket price. Champagne will be served by the Harbour for the midnight fireworks. Please note, no beverages will be permitted to be taken from The Calyx to the viewing area for the fireworks. 
Photo ID may be requested. The bar menu will be available soon.

Q: Can I bring alcohol or other drinks to The Calyx?
No. The Calyx is a licensed event and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. Beverages brought to the venue will be confiscated at the bag check. The Royal Botanic Gardens & Domain Trust reserves the right to confiscate any restricted items and/or refuse entry to any persons not complying with Conditions of Entry.

Q: Is there any entertainment at the event?
The Calyx offers patrons a relaxed atmosphere with a variety of live entertainment. There will bands throughout the evening and roving performers. Patrons will hear the synchronized fireworks music broadcast down by the Harbour.

Q: What time is the event? 
Gates open at 7.30pm with last entry at 9pm. The event finishes at 12.30 am, with last drinks served at 12am. 

Q: What time are the fireworks and what view will I have?
There are two fireworks displays on New Year’s Eve -  9.00 pm and midnight. The 9pm fireworks will be displayed on screens around the venue. Guests will be taken down to the Harbour front to view the midnight fireworks where you will have sweeping views over the barges in the Harbour, Farm Cove, and the Sydney Opera House. 
Both displays are synchronised to music which is broadcast at the event. 

Q: How long is the walk to the viewing area?
The viewing area is approximately a 20-minute walk from The Calyx. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable and appropriate footwear. Please let us know ahead of time if you have any mobility concerns and require assistance.

Q: Can I bring children to The Calyx?
This is a strictly 18+ only event and you must be of age to purchase a ticket. Proof of age ID may be requested at entry and at the bars.

Q: What are the seating arrangements?
There will be a range of unreserved seating options available ranging from cafe style tables and chairs, communal tables with bench seating, bar stools and lounge areas. 

Q: Is this an accessible event?
Yes. The event is wheelchair accessible.

Q: Is there a dress code?
We suggest smart casual attire and comfortable footwear. Guests are also advised to bring a jacket or warmer clothing as it can become quite cool at night.

Q: When do ticket sales close?
Ticket sales will close 2.00 pm on 30 December 2018, unless sold out prior.
 
Q: What is included in the meal and how is this served?
Guests will enjoy an evening with food stations and roving canapes. Food will be available for the duration of the event. Stations and canape will offer vegetarian, gluten free and vegan options. View the menu here.

Q: I have a special dietary requirement. What should I do?
The menu accommodates most of the common dietary requirements such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose free and halal. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you wish to discuss your dietary requirement further.

Q: Can I bring additional food to The Calyx?
No, additional food can’t be brought into the event.
Q: How do I get there?
Due to extensive road closures and high pedestrian traffic in the city, public transport is the easiest option to get to the event. There are additional trains, bus and ferry services available and transport hubs are within easy reach of this site.

The closest train stations are: 

•    Martin Place Train Station: 650m from the managed access entry gate on Macquarie St. 
•    St James Train Station: 800 m to the managed access gate entry gate on Macquarie St.
