Step into the creative mind of Harvest Exhibition painter Charlotte Thodey as she delves into a nostalgic recollection of memories gardening with her father as a child.
Hear how this love of gardening, particularly fruit and vegetables, inspired her visual career as a still life painter. From a mid-South Island New Zealand potager to an exhibition in Villandry in the Loire, France, Charlotte’s gardening and artistic career has taken her all over the world. Charlotte will be joined by Dr Keith Houston for a fun and informative talk on potatoes. An unlikely vegetable, the humble “spud” weaves its roots through history as the fourth most important food crop for humans. Developed and grown in many shapes, sizes and varieties, potatoes have their own unique story. Morning tea will be served at Lion Gate Lodge, with time to view Harvest, followed by Charlotte and Keith’s talks in the Maiden Theatre.
