Having spent 30 years in Japan, Mark is a leading expert on Japanese culture and garden history.
With training in design, tea ceremony and ikebana, he has fully immersed himself in the rich cultural aesthetic of his adopted home. Now shuttling between Kyoto and Sydney as a consultant, he is a passionate advocate for the contemplative landscapes unique to this ancient gardening tradition. His lecture will elucidate the depth and allure of Japanese gardens as invitations to stillness and tranquillity.
The 2019 Garden Design Series will be hosted by Paul Nicholson from the Royal Botanic Gardens and domain Trust at the Tattersalls Club on Hyde Park in Sydney’s CBD.
